There are particular times when a person who is attempting to stay away from drink and drugs can face challenges to recovery.

These are often times of transition…going to into drug alcohol rehab, moving to sober living, going out of town or going working in certain industries. These times are marked by freedom, change and often uncomfortable feelings.

These are times when friends and family frequently can not be of help. The reality is that the same environment that alcoholism and addiction flourished is not going to be the solution to the problem. That’s when the services of a professional sober companion can literally save a life. Such companions often get involved after a drug intervention to make sure the client makes it safely into a program where they will receive addiction help.

Beyond these brief transports however this buddy system can be invaluable to individuals who need to continue to work in risky situations and offer reassurance to employers and loved ones for whom monitoring could do more harm than good. With a companion on their side, addicts and alcoholics have a much stronger foundation for long term recovery.

I’ve been seriously looking into alcohol detox because I just feel beyond help these days. Every time I stop drinking even for brief a period I shake and fall apart until I have another drink.

I’m actually a bit reassured that there seems to be more than a few detox centers that offer detox as a service. I guess I take a certain comfort that there are enough people who find themselves in the same situation as me to keep all these centers active.
Another nice thing about having a choice of places to go is that I can choose the location.

I want to go to a Florida rehab because it feels more like a vacation when I tell work where I’m off to for a few days.  How much better would my life be if I could return from a trip from Florida with my drinking problem under control, relaxed, focused and maybe even with a nice tan?
