Intervention AE: The Reality of Alcohol Abuse Intervention and Drug Addiction Intervention
Intervention AE
Intervention AE, a television show that outlines the difficulties of addiction, illustrates the intervention process as an organized path towards recovery. However the television show is only a glimpse of the complexities and emotionally tolling hardships associated with drug addiction, alcoholism, or other various addictions requiring treatment. Addiction has a very serious impact on the life of the addicted individual and those surrounding him or her. Everyday is a struggle and there comes a point when an intervention may be the only option. There are a variety of ways to approach an intervention and deciding which way is right depends on the individual.
Alcohol Abuse Intervention
One of the most serious and most common forms of addiction is alcoholism. Alcoholism can start out as a few drinks every night after work, and can quickly turn into full-blown alcohol abuse. An alcohol abuse intervention educates a struggling alcoholic on various treatment options available to them. The concept of rehab can be quite scary to some people, therefore it is important to highlight their other options. Other treatment options available to recovering alcoholics include outpatient programs, Alcoholics Anonymous, etc. Working with a professional alcohol or drug interventionist can make the process more structured and smooth.
Drug Addiction Intervention
A drug addiction intervention is usually implemented in a similar manner as an alcohol intervention. Consulting and/or working with a professional drug interventionist will be extremely beneficial as they can provide numerous referrals to high quality drug recovery treatment centers. The atmosphere of the intervention must be encouraging and non-judgmental. It is important that the individual does not feel attacked and instead feels a great deal of support from their family and friends. Once they understand that they have family and friends to fall back on and support them through their recovery, they will likely be more inclined to begin their journey towards sobriety.
