Does the Highest Paid Official Need Addiction Treatment?

Official Sought Addiction Treatment After DUI
Robert Rizzo has made the headlines in Los Angeles recently as reports emerged that he was the top paid official in the state. As the city manager of Bell, a relatively poor city, it’s alleged that Rizzo has an annual salary of over $700,000. This isn’t all that’s controversial about this official as he was arrested in March for drunk driving. Court papers show that Rizzo sought addiction treatment and counseling after this arrest.

Alcohol Detox for a Top Manager
As a comment by a keen-eyed reader, “a .28 percent if you’re a non-addict” – concerning Rizzo’s breathalyzer test. Is this just an unlucky incident for Rizzo or is he truly in need of drug addiction treatment and alcohol detox? Rizzo’s therapist gave details about what treatment entailed: chemical dependency education, stress management, relapse prevention, cognitive behavioral training and other ways to cope in a healthy manner. It’s interesting to see what Rizzo would deal with now that he’s been outed (and resigned) after his unusually high salary has been revealed.

Alcohol Detox and Understanding the Role of Healing

When a person is dealing with issues pertaining to excessive drinking it can be very hard for them to understand how they will get the help that they desperately need. The first step is to have an alcohol detox intervention which involves confronting the addict about their drinking and helping them understand that they need help and the only way they can get it is by going to a program that specializes in helping individuals with addictive problems.

When you contact a treatment center about an alcohol intervention it is important that you understand the steps that you will have to go through in order to get help. Making the realization that you need help and how you will get that help is first and foremost. If you don’t do that then it can become very difficult seeing how you will benefit from the program that you are going too. The trained professionals at the center are there to help you and they will.

Getting help and seeing how it will affect the rest of your life is also another important component of an alcohol intervention. It’s a moment when you’ll see that you have to do something because; the people around you are asking you to help yourself. If you don’t do this then you could continue to suffer in the future and this could ultimately lead to your death. Excessive drinking is something that you could have been living with you your entire life never realizing that you had a problem. Getting to the bottom of why you could be using this substance is very important.

At the program that will help you with the alcohol intervention you will learn about what you have been living with and the role that drinking has played in your life. An event could have caused you to start your drinking and you never fully grasped the fact of how you needed professional help instead of taking matters into your own hands. This is common for many addicts so don’t feel alone. Another benefit of an alcohol intervention is that you will learn about the resources and tools you’ll need in the future to make sure you don’t relapse and begin using again.

Alcoholism is a disease that affects a person’s mind, body and personality negatively due to abuse of alcohol. Individuals suffering from this condition often have a number of symptoms of alcoholism, which can change and get worse throughout the course of the disease. When alcoholic individuals begin to experiment with alcohol there may or may not be consequences in the early years of abuse, but invariably if a person is an alcoholic there will be consequences in the future including, jails, institutions and even death. Alcoholism Treatment is necessary for most true alcoholics to get help and overcome their disease.

Alcohol is an easily obtained substance that is classified as a depressant. Individuals like its effects because it makes them experience a feeling of euphoria and helps to make alcoholics feel like they fit in or are able to better cope with life circumstances. Alcohol is used in social situations to create a feeling of comfort or community, but when people abuse it they often find that they cannot control and enjoy alcohol. People who understand that they have a problem can sometimes try to control their use but true alcoholics usually find out that they are unable to do so. When this is the case, alcoholic individuals try to hide their use from others and deny that they have a problem.

When To Know An Alcohol Detox Is Necessary

Obsessive craving of alcohol is one of the first symptoms of alcohol addiction along with an increased tolerance. A higher tolerance means a person’s mind and body are not reacting the same way they once did and they must consume more and more alcohol to get the same effect. In some cases individuals experience times when they drink only one or two drinks and become drunk. These fluctuations in a person’s mental state are unheard of in normal drinkers and may be a reason to seek treatment at an alcohol detox. Once a person becomes dependent on alcohol, the cycle of alcoholism is hard to overcome. Alcoholism is a progressive disease, meaning it gets worse over time. If a person stops using alcohol for a period of time but then goes back to the substance, his or her behavior will likely get more unmanageable.

Alcohol Addiction Treatment Is Possible

Alcoholism symptoms can be found in every kind of person because this is a disease that does not discriminate based on age, gender, race or financial status. Alcohol addiction treatment is extremely hard and may be unsuccessful the first few times it is attempted. To recover from alcoholism means complete abstinence from alcohol and all other mind-altering substances for the lifetime of the affected person. Alcoholism is not currently curable, but it can be treated in order to keep it from causing greater pain and suffering.

What Resources Are There For Alcohol Addiction?

It’s well known that Drug and alcohol addiction is both a dangerous and progressive disease, but when is it time to get help from drug rehabilitation professionals? When someone drinks alcohol on a daily basis, but never gets drunk, or parties and does cocaine or ecstasy every weekend, but never during the weekdays, how does one determine if they are addicts in need of drug rehab?  It’s often said that there is an addiction problem when life becomes unmanageable in several ways, however addiction is progressive. For certain people nothing seems unmanageable until suddenly, everything is.

Substance Abuse Rehabilitation And You

There isn’t a universal scale with to measure the extent of one’s addiction, but it’s understood that addiction is always a dangerous game and no matter what the substance, any abuse is walking a very thin line. It’s tough to figure out who has a problem and who doesn’t. Professional Rehab has helped many alcoholics and drug addicts to reclaim their lives.  Falling down drunk, multiple drug offenses or stealing from loved ones aren’t the only telltale signs of being an addict. All it takes is a dependence – just to feel normal, or to go to sleep for the night. Perhaps, instead of determining addiction as life becoming unmanageable, we should take a look at what is and is not manageable when we don’t drink or do the drugs that normally “get us through” a good night’s sleep or a night out with friends.

Drug Alcohol Intervention In California

The biggest question we ask is has the perceived quality of one’s life changed in any way without alcohol or drugs? This is something that must be answered on a personal level and hopefully, with vigilance, it may be answered before addiction gets a strong grip on life and begins making various things unmanageable – thus making the need for drug and alcohol detox or rehab imminent.

Need to Detox

I’ve been seriously looking into alcohol detox because I just feel beyond help these days. Every time I stop drinking even for brief a period I shake and fall apart until I have another drink.

I’m actually a bit reassured that there seems to be more than a few detox centers that offer detox as a service. I guess I take a certain comfort that there are enough people who find themselves in the same situation as me to keep all these centers active.
Another nice thing about having a choice of places to go is that I can choose the location.

I want to go to a Florida rehab because it feels more like a vacation when I tell work where I’m off to for a few days.  How much better would my life be if I could return from a trip from Florida with my drinking problem under control, relaxed, focused and maybe even with a nice tan?
