Getting Addiction Treatment At An Addiction Center That Offers Drug Alcohol Rehab Alcoholism Treatment

Addiction Treatment Is The Best Way To Get Sober

There are few things in life are more painful than watching a loved one self-destruct and feeling like there is nothing you can do to stop what is happening. You may have talked with them, you may have pleaded with them, you can try threatening them but nothing seems to work. If your spouse is an alcohol abuser or perhaps he or she is a full blown alcoholic but the really frustrating part is they often do not want to help put themselves back together.

There are steps you can take however to protect yourself and help your spouse.  Addiction treatment is a painful process for everyone involved but as bad as things are, if an alcoholic continues to drink they will always get worse.

An Addiction Center Holds The Answers

There are support groups that deal specifically with the issues concerning the family members of an alcoholic. Al-Anon and Alateen are 12-step support groups that hold meetings all over the world to help family members understand that they are not responsible for the self-destructive patterns of problem drinking and they need to help themselves first.

Many spouses find that they spend all their energy walking on eggshells and covering up for their drunken spouse. Making excuses about why they are not at a function or at work or otherwise protecting them when they cannot function. These behaviors keep the problem drinker from fully experiencing the consequences of his or her drinking and should be stopped so the drinker understands the full impact of his or her actions.  An addiction center can be the answer to getting the best addiction treatment available.

Getting Help At A Drug Alcohol Rehab

A Drug Alcohol Rehab has been proven to be effective as a means of breaking through denial and getting the person into treatment. Full service treatment centers offer addiction treatment services where a professional interventionist will coordinate with you to make all the necessary arrangements to execute a successful intervention that results in the drinker attending a treatment center right away.

Alcoholism Treatment Is The Best Answer

Alcoholism treatment is particularly effective after a recent consequence of drinking such as losing a job, getting a DUI, having severe financial difficulties or blacking out and causing an accident or humiliating event. During these periods the drinker is feeling especially vulnerable and confused and is more willing to seek a solution apart from more drinking.

The good news is that an addiction center does work and even individuals who are skeptical and unwilling to look at their drinking problem will have a change of heart after treatment, and many go on to live meaningful lives without dependence on alcohol.

Why Getting Help At An Addiction Treatment Center Works

Trying to understand why some people succeed in addiction treatment centers after failing to get sober on their own will become apparent when the two typical approaches are compared against each other.

Addiction treatment centers rely on groups of clients sharing their experiences with one another as well as by working with trained counselors. Individuals trying to fight their compulsions and cravings in isolation from the rest of the world can be tempted by their friends, or be involved in co-dependent relationships with family members who allow them to continue to drink and use.

Find A Quality Addiction Center To Get The Best Treatment

An addiction center utilizes proven treatment approaches that are structured and reinforced in order to introduce the client to recovery. Individuals who want to quit on their own try to control their drinking and drug use with no structure. Without a plan and outside help nearly all attempts to get sober this way will fail given time.  The goal of an addiction treatment program is to achieve long-term sobriety.  An addiction center can accomplish this goal.

An addiction treatment center is staffed by licensed, trained professional alcohol and drug counselors and medical doctors and therapists who have helped thousands of clients suffering from the same symptoms and consequences of substance addiction, and have successfully treated many such clients.

What A Drug Alcohol Rehab Center Can Accomplish

Addiction treatment centers are based on the hope and promise that recovery from the devastating effects of drug and alcohol abuse is possible. Clients see other clients with more time living happily and are introduced to 12-step support groups where they see people from all walks of life all with the common goal of living meaningfully in sobriety. Individuals attempting to stop on their own try to keep their secret to themselves and have a hard time maintaining hope and purpose for any length of time.

Child Of Hollywood Star Fails To Get Proper Help At Drug Addiction Center

Addiction Treatment Doesn’t Save Son Of Ryan O’Neal From Prison

It seems like it happens every day: Some Hollywood star gets into trouble with drugs, has some embarrassing public incident, goes into  an addiction center and walks out a rehabilitated member of society.  However, it isn’t so often that you hear about the troubles of the children of Hollywood actors, one such story is the events playing out with Redmond O’Neal, son to Ryan O’Neal and Farrah Faucett.

At this time, Redmond O’Neal faces six years in prison after his arrest on felony drug charges in late December. The son of the late Farrah Fawcett and Ryan O’Neal was arrested Dec. 29  after he returned to his inpatient addiction treatment center under the influence of drugs after a day pass. The charge was filed after staff members noticed that Redmond was acting different when he returned to his drug alcohol rehab after his first 24-hour pass. A judge Tuesday ordered O’Neal back to Wayside Detention Center for 30 days while the charges are considered. He’ll return to court Feb. 2. Redmond, 24, has battled drug problems for years, and was sober for six months before the Dec. 29 relapse.

Reasons for Choosing Rehab

Just as there are a variety of reasons to start using drugs, there are a range of reasons for choosing to enter a rehabilitation program. It takes courage to admit addiction and to recognize the toll that substance abuse has on the integrity of life. Looking for treatment facilities is one of the first steps in the long road to recovery.

The need for drug or alcohol rehab may come as a cataclysmic event but most often comes from an accumulation of small signs that show help is needed. Some individuals may even need an intervention before they realize that drugs have destroyed their lives. Listed below are some reasons that help people realize that they need drug rehab:

  • Drug overdose: occurs when large quantities of drugs or alcohol. Accidental overdoses may result from irresponsible behavior and continued abuse of illicit drugs. A drug overdose can often lead to death.
  • Crime: Whether it is driving under the influence, violent or sexual crimes, committing crimes is commonly linked to drug abuse. Research by the ONDCP shows that illicit drug users are 9 times more likely than non-users to be arrested on an assault charge.
  • Health: Many drug addicts disregard their health and it can be especially devastating if they are pregnant. Marijuana, alcohol and even tobacco can cause your baby irreversible harm while in the womb. Some effects of drug usage during pregnancy include fetal alcohol syndrome and even giving birth to a drug dependent baby.

Getting through Tough Times

There are particular times when a person who is attempting to stay away from drink and drugs can face challenges to recovery.

These are often times of transition…going to into drug alcohol rehab, moving to sober living, going out of town or going working in certain industries. These times are marked by freedom, change and often uncomfortable feelings.

These are times when friends and family frequently can not be of help. The reality is that the same environment that alcoholism and addiction flourished is not going to be the solution to the problem. That’s when the services of a professional sober companion can literally save a life. Such companions often get involved after a drug intervention to make sure the client makes it safely into a program where they will receive addiction help.

Beyond these brief transports however this buddy system can be invaluable to individuals who need to continue to work in risky situations and offer reassurance to employers and loved ones for whom monitoring could do more harm than good. With a companion on their side, addicts and alcoholics have a much stronger foundation for long term recovery.
