Intervention Services

Understanding the intervention process is quite helpful prior to staging an intervention. Working with a professional interventionist can provide families and friends who wish to stage an intervention with unmatched intervention services that will result in a potentially higher success rate. A professional interventionist will profile treatment options available, will assist in developing a plan of action, will hold a pre-intervention meeting, will facilitate the intervention itself, will be involved in the treatment admission process, will provide post-intervention free consultations, and will provide post-treatment services.

Alcohol and Drug Intervention

An alcohol and drug intervention addresses individuals who suffer from alcoholism and/or drug addiction. The primary goal is to help the individual acknowledge the problem, and to then encourage him or her to get professional help. Those present at the intervention should express any fears or concerns they have, but in a supportive and encouraging manner. The ultimate goal is that by the end of the intervention, the individual will willingly agree to participate in a recovery program.

Crisis Intervention

One definition of “crisis” is a situation or period in which things are very uncertain, difficult, or painful, especially a time when action must be taken to avoid complete disaster or breakdown. Experiencing a crisis could include sexual abuse, domestic violence, crime, injury, natural disaster, war, suicide, etc. Events such as these can be extremely traumatizing and can increase a person’s risk for developing post-traumatic stress disorder. In order to avoid this risk, a crisis intervention may be staged. A crisis intervention attempts to assist the individual confront the reality of their trauma and move forward with a positive attitude. The intervention employs psychological first aid, which involves establishing a rapport with the victim, gathering information for short-term assessment and service delivery, and averting a potential state of crisis.

The intervention services that can be provided by an intervention specialist are incredibly reliable and useful. Staging an intervention with a loved one can be an extremely tolling process, both emotionally and physically. Working with a professional interventionist can make for a more organized and structured process with increased chances for success. A professional interventionist can generally provide the following; profile treatment options available, assist in developing a plan of action, hold a pre-intervention meeting, facilitate the intervention, be present for and facilitate the treatment admission process, provide post-intervention free consultations, and provide post-treatment services. The advantages that come with working with a professional are immeasurable.

Drug Intervention

A drug intervention addresses the debilitating disease of drug addiction. Drug addiction is a dangerous, sometimes fatal, compulsive behavior. Drug addicts are often unaware of the severity of their disease, in some state of denial, or have reached the point where they no longer care about their health or safety. A drug intervention addresses this by helping the individual confront their addiction head-on. The goal is that with the combined support from family and friends, the individual will recognize that they have reached a low-point in their life and they need help. A professional interventionist can help find treatment programs for the individual. The hope is that by the end of the intervention, the individual will be open to participating in a drug addiction treatment program.

Alcoholism Intervention

An alcoholism intervention is implemented in a similar manner, but addresses victims of alcohol abuse. Alcoholism, like drug addiction, is a disease. A chemical dependency is formed, and oftentimes requires professional assistance. The alcoholism intervention can provide the individual with the encouragement and support needed for participation in an alcohol recovery program.

If you are concerned for the wellbeing of a family member, close friend, or co-worker who is displaying symptoms of compulsive behavior, don’t sit on the sidelines—get them help. An intervention is an action undertaken by family members, friends, co-workers, and others who may be concerned in an attempt to encourage and assist an individual to change his or her behavior in a positive manner. Sometimes the intervention is enough of a push to get the individual to make some positive life changes, and sometimes the goal is to coerce the individual into a treatment plan for recovery. Those involved should use their discretion depending on the type of compulsive behavior and depending on the severity of it. Examples of compulsive behavior or unhealthy behavior that may require a <a href="http://www.intervention911.com"/a>drug intervention include addiction to alcohol and/or other drugs, nicotine, food, the Internet, sex, spending/shopping, and gambling; the need for nursing home or medical care; domestic violence issues; and chronic pain with addiction.

When to Employ Intervention Services

Deciding when an intervention is needed can be difficult, and it is often recommended that families and friends who wish to stage an intervention consult a professional. The intervention services that a professional interventionist can provide can be extremely advantageous and can increase the likelihood for success. The intervention process aims to inform the individual on the negative implications of his or her actions and aims to encourage him or her to participate in a treatment program, or a recovery program immediately.

Staging the Intervention

If you have even the slightest concern that this individual is putting his or her life at risk or is damaging his or her physical and emotional health even the slightest bit, get them help immediately and stage an intervention. The risk of losing them forever, or them permanently damaging his or her health is too high.

Do you suspect someone you love is abusing drugs? Have you begun to notice symptoms of alcoholism in a friend or family member? Are you concerned for the destructive behavior being elicited by someone close to you? If you have a sneaking suspicion that someone dear to you is suffering from alcoholism, drug abuse, sex addiction, a gambling addiction, etc., do not sit on the sidelines while you watch them destroy their life. Instead, consider staging an intervention. Do not make the mistake of reducing the individuals’ problem as “just a phase,” when it could be much more serious than you think. Instead, confront the individual and let them know that you are there to be a part of their support system. Be encouraging and do not display any signs of judgment.

Intervention Services

The intervention process can be extremely complicated and can take a toll on the emotional health of every individual who participates. It can be difficult to confront a family member or friend about such a serious problem, and it is not uncommon for the individual to become defensive. However, an intervention that involves some confrontation and defensiveness is better than no intervention at all. There are various intervention services that can be used to make the process go smoothly such as pre-intervention planning, post-intervention treatment, post-intervention consultation, etc.

Using an Alcohol and Drug Interventionist

Consult a professional interventionist and discuss various intervention services that can be utilized throughout the intervention process. Staging an intervention takes time and preparation. An alcohol and drug interventionist can help facilitate the entire process and set the stage for a structured and encouraging environment. Additionally, an intervention specialist can help provide knowledge on various treatment services and what to do after the intervention.

Drug Alcohol Intervention

There comes a point in an alcoholic or a drug addict’s life when family, friends, and/or a professional must intervene. Drug and alcohol abuse is very serious and should not be taken lightly. An intervention can range anywhere from a short and simple talk with a friend, to a professionally structured facilitation aimed at getting the individual into treatment. The type of intervention facilitated should be determined depending on the individuals level of addiction. For a more severe, long-term addiction, a professional interventionist may be necessary, but for an addiction that is closer to the surface, a brief conversation, or a doctor’s input might be enough. Making this decision on your own can be difficult so consult a professional on the type of drug alcohol intervention that should be performed.

Pretreatment Intervention

For some more serious cases of drug addiction and/or alcoholism, a pretreatment intervention might be advantageous. A pretreatment intervention involves the participation of close family members and friends, as they confront the individual and discuss their worries, anxiety, or perhaps firsthand experiences with drug and alcohol abuse. A pretreatment intervention usually requires some sort of direction from a professional counselor or interventionist who can emphasize the importance of being supportive and constructive in their conversations with the individual. Maintaining an emotionally neutral standpoint is extremely important throughout the process.

Intervention Services

There are various intervention services offered, depending on the type of intervention you choose to execute. Certain services include a pre-intervention meeting, the intervention itself, the treatment admission process, post-intervention consultations, and post-treatment services. Working with a professional throughout the process will likely yield better results. The combination of emotional empathy from family and friends, and the structured facilitation from a professional interventionist creates a more supportive and comfortable atmosphere for the individual.

Crisis Intervention

Post-traumatic stress disorder can extend from a variety of traumatic experiences. Included in this category are perhaps victims of domestic abuse and/or sexual abuse, victims of a severe natural disaster, family and friends of a suicide victim, victims of criminal activity or attempted murder, etc. Any one of these experiences can be extremely traumatic and isolating, and can establish a basis for depression. In cases such as these, crisis intervention may be necessary. A crisis intervention first aims to collect pertinent information having to do with the victims experience and then assess the information before moving forward. Understanding the reasoning behind the victims post-traumatic stress disorder or deep depression is extremely important in determining what type of counseling or treatment they may need.

Pretreatment Interventions

A pretreatment intervention in the case of a crisis intervention might include family member or friends confronting the victim and offering words of advice, firsthand accounts of similar experiences, and their support. By offering comfort to the individual they may get a better idea of the victims depression or post-traumatic stress disorder and consequently be able to offer them appropriate support. The pretreatment intervention will also prepare family and close friends for the intervention itself. In crisis interventions, the pretreatment intervention must be accomplished quickly, as time is of the essence when it comes down to it.

Crisis Intervention Services

The primary goal of crisis intervention services is to get the victim immediate assistance and support. Following a crisis, or a traumatic experience, a victim may turn to certain outlets, including drug abuse or alcohol abuse, in an attempt to forget their problems. In this case, the intervention may need to address a number of issues. The ultimate goal is to avoid further crisis, and provide the individual with appropriate support.

Intervention Services for Different Addictions

Intervention services serve many different helpful purposes. From prescription drug to abuse of Internet pornography, there are various addictions that can plague individuals nowadays. More serious addictions to chemical substances are dangerous and the problems need to be addressed as soon as possible. That is not to say that other addictions are harmless and should not be recognized. Video game addiction can cause individuals to feel extremely depressed and alienated from the outside world. Individuals that are addicted to self-harm may find themselves in an unintentionally life threatening situation. Addicts may feel shame towards their addiction and that they have to beat it alone. Interventions are the first step in getting them the help that they need.

Addressing the Issue of Drug Education and Intervention in the Workplace

Working individuals spend a majority of their time at work. Some people may spend more time with their co-workers than with their own family members. Those closest to an addict will be the first ones to recognize signs of drug or alcohol abuse. Drug education and intervention in workplace is an important topic to be addressed. Drug addiction may have more serious consequences than anyone can intend or predict. Ignoring an employee’s or co-worker’s addiction can be a risky move to make and the problem will not go away on its own. Overtime, this may end up affecting your own

Alcoholism Intervention Can Prevent Disastrous Outcomes

In 1989, the captain of the Exxon Valdez was under the influence of alcohol and caused one of the greatest environmental disasters in history. The captain was noted for having problems with alcohol in the past. His employers had knowledge of this information and did not do enough to get him an alcoholism intervention or help that he needed. Their negligent behavior led to the loss of wildlife and its terrible aftermath can still be seen today. Ignoring addiction is not only damaging to the workplace morale but can prove to be costly in the future.

Intervention Help

Intervention. It’s a scary word. There is a range to the intensity of a intervention. Some interventions are short and simple. In some cases a discussion with a family member or friend can do the trick. In other cases a more intense intervention is required. A brief, but somewhat intense intervention might include a number of counseling sessions with a doctor or therapist educating them on the dangers of their habit or addiction and creating goals for them that will hopefully help them change their behavior.

Finding An Interventionist

The most intense form of intervention is one where the individual is kept in the dark. They come home one day and their family and friends share with them their concerns as an interventionist facilitates. They are often take to a treatment center immediately after, sometimes against their will. Intervention services are here to help you and your loved ones. Addiction is dangerous and as much as we like to think we can overcome it on our own, or we can help a loved one overcome it on their own, sometimes the only possibility for recovery requires professional help.

How To Find Intervention Services

By submitting to in-patient and outpatient programs, addicts are able to get on their feet and return to a life of stability. The process is difficult and requires time, dedication, and support. The addict will more likely than not be in denial of their problem or addiction. After they come to accept that they have a problem they will be much more inclined to retrieve help. By submitting to such a rigorous process they will be able to maintain consistency and stability, making the likelihood of relapse small. Many addicts who try to recover on their own have a history or relapse. This is because they don’t have the proper support system. By intervening you are giving them a chance to recover and hopefully never have to go through anything like it again.
